The Prayer Shawl Ministry is thriving, busy knitting/crocheting prayer shawls to offer tangible comfort to anyone, whether in the parish or not, who is going through illness or other challenging times. Parishioners, community members, as well as friends and relatives across the U.S. and in foreign countries have received items handcrafted by members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Our purpose is to bring comfort to those that could use a tangible reminder of the mercy, peace, and compassion of God's all embracing love. In this sense, prayer shawls are an expression of the Catholic sacramental imagination, which experiences God in and through created things and the works of human hands.
Perhaps you’d like to make a Prayer Shawl
For someone you’ve never met.
Perhaps a soldier’s helmet liner
To show we don’t forget.
Perhaps you’d like to make a chemo cap
To send to someone who
Has dealt with pain and suffering and
Still has more to get through.
Not a knitter? Perhaps you’ll pray or visit
The ones who need to know
God holds them in a warm embrace
When they are feeling low.
Join us, give of your time and talent.
For as God decreed:
Whatever you do for the least of these
You do for Me.
